June Kathleen Lockhart

June Lockhart was an actress and television personality best known for her roles as the devoted mother figure Ruth Martin in the classic television series "Lassie" (1958-1964) and Maureen Robinson in the campy science fiction adventure "Lost in Space" (1965-1968). The daughter of prolific character actor Gene Lockhart, she began her career in films before finding sustained fame on television, where her warm and compassionate portrayals endeared her to generations of viewers. Based in Santa Monica, California in her later years, Lockhart remained active throughout her lengthy career, appearing in episodic television, soap operas, and stage productions until her death at age 100.
